Fire Rescue crews along with law enforcement were dispatched to reports of a rollover crash in the area of US-19 and 126th Avenue N. The crash occurred at approximately 5:18 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021.
Fire rescue crews located the two vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of US-19 on the overpass for 126th Avenue.
Firefighters worked to extricate one driver from the vehicle that came to rest on its roof. Both drivers were transported to Bayfront Healh with serious injuries, according to FHP.
Troopers say that one vehicle was traveling southbound on US-19, just north of 126th Avenue North, at high speed. The driver was identified only as a 36 year-old from Port Richey.
The second vehicle was also traveling southbound and operated by a 58 year-old male from Tampa.
Troopers say the first vehicle overtook and collided with the rear of the second vehicle. Post-impact, both vehicles overturned in the travel lanes and shoulder of US-19 with debris dispersed over 500 feet.
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating the crash which closed all southbound lanes of US-19 prior to Ulmerton Road until about 8:20 a.m.
