Troopers investigate single vehicle crash that left three people dead in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a crash that occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in which three people died.

The crash occurred as a sedan, operated by a 26 year-old male from Hudson, was traveling westbound on Denton Avenue at a high speed, west of Matis Road.

Troopers say that the driver lost control of the vehicle and departed the roadway. The vehicle entered the south shoulder, struck a section of guardrail, and overturned several times in an adjacent open field.

As the vehicle overturned, both passengers, an 19 year-old male from Port Richey and an 18 year-old female from Hudson, were ejected. The driver remained entrapped in the vehicle which caught fire.

All three occupants suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

Troopers noted that only the driver of the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
