Troopers investigating crash on Howard Frankland Bridge involving a tractor trailer

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating a crash that occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022.

The crash involved a pickup truck and tractor trailer that were both traveling southbound on I-275 on the Pinellas side of the Howard Frankland Bridge.

The 22 year-old male driver of the pickup truck was traveling southbound in the center right lane. A 47 year-old male driver of the tractor trailer was traveling southbound in the outside lane.

Troopers say that as the vehicles neared 4th Street, the pickup truck entered the outside lane and collided with the trailer towed by tractor.

The pickup truck rotated and became wedged under the trailer of the other vehicle.

Both vehicles came to rest in the outside lane. The roadway was reopened at 5:53 a.m.

The driver of the pickup truck only experienced minor injuries and no injuries reported to the other driver.
