Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at approximately 3:19 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
The crash involved three vehicles which included two pickup trucks and a sedan.
The sedan was traveling southbound on the exit ramp from US-19 approaching Ulmerton Road. The second vehicle was traveling westbound in the center of Ulmerton Road under a green signal at the underpass of US-19. The third vehicle was traveling westbound in the inside lane of Ulmerton Road adjacent to the second vehicle.
Troopers say that the driver of the sedan violated the red light, entered the intersection, and collided with the right side of the second vehicle.
Both vehicles rotated and collided once again which resulted in the second vehicle overturning. As the vehicle overturned, it collided with the third vehicle.
The first vehicle was operated by a 28 year-old man from Manatee County.
The second vehicle was operated by a 41 year-old man from Clearwater. His passengers were a 12 year-old female and 8 year-old female from Clearwater.
The third vehicle was operated by a 29 year-old male from Land O’ Lakes. His passenger included a 1 year-old female from Land O’ Lakes.
According to FHP, all six occupants in the three vehicles suffered serious injuries and were reportedly utilizing seatbelts and child restraints.
