Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate the hit and run death of a bicyclist.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:38 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, in the northbound lanes of US-19 at Holiday Hills Blvd.
Troopers say the vehicle involved, a blue 2004 Saturn Ion, was traveling northbound in the outside lane of US-19, north of Holiday Hills Boulevard.
The 43 year-old male bicyclist and New Port Richey resident was traveling eastbound across the northbound lanes of US-19 and entered the path of Saturn.
As a result, the Saturn collided with the bicyclist who suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Saturn fled the scene.
