February 1, 2014

Fire crews were dispatched earlier today to the International HQ of the International Sign Company.  The large commercial building is located at 10831 Canal Steet in the City of Pinellas Park.

According to the company website the Int’l Sign facility exceeds 80,000 square feet.  They claim to be the oldest licensed sign contractor in the State of Florida.

Multiple calls were received by 911 just prior to 12:45am.  Arriving crews found smoke and flames in an area next to the building and initiated a fast attack.   The fire was knocked down rapidly but it was quickly discovered that the fire did spread inside the building.  A Second Alarm response was requested for additional resources to assist with the fire.  Entry was forced into the building which contained heavy smoke and fire.

It took firefighters over a hour to declare the situation under control.

Pinellas Park Fire Department, Largo Fire Rescue, St. Petersburg Fire Department, Sunstar Paramedics, Pinellas Park Police, and Duke Energy were all on-scene to assist.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
