Teen standing on St. Petersburg sidewalk fatally struck following car crash

A 17 year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash that occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019.

Police say that two vehicles crashed on MLK St. near 3rd Avenue North and struck a pedestrian who was on the curb.

The collision involved a white 2014 Jeep Patriot and a red 2014 Ford Mustang .

Police say that the Jeep Patriot, driven by 30 year-old Lynnsey Terepka, was southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street North, in the eastern curb lane.

The Mustang, driven by 28 year-old Kayla Enget, was southbound in the center lane.

As the vehicles approached 3rd Avenue North, the Ford Mustang turned left from the center lane and struck the Jeep Patriot.

Once the vehicles separated, the Ford Mustang drove onto the sidewalk on the southeast corner of the intersection where a pedestrian, 17 year-old Liamar Matos-Gonzalez was standing.

The Ford Mustang struck Matos-Gonzalez, pushing her into a tree where she died from her injuries.

This case is still under investigation. All lanes have re-opened to traffic.
