Two Dead in 3 Vehicle Crash Friday Night on US-19

Largo Police along with Largo Fire Rescue responded to reports of a traffic crash on Friday, May, 12, 2017 at approximately 9:54 p.m.

The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of US-19 in front of the Columns of Allen’s Creek at 2554 Oak Trail S in Largo, Florida.

Due to extensive damage to the vehicles and entrapment of the victims, a second alarm response was requested.

According to a press release from Lieutenant Joe Coyle of the Largo Police Department, a 2003 Ford Expedition was traveling south in the curb lane when it exited it’s lane of travel and entered the emergency lane.

A 1996 Toyota sedan and a 1999 Toyota van were in the emergency lane. Both drivers were outside of those vehicles when the Ford struck the sedan which struck the van.

Both drivers were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where they succumbed to their injuries.  One victim was transported via Bayflite helicopter and the other by Sunstar Paramedics.

The names of the deceased are as follows:

45 year-old Debbie Savanpanyadeth and 46 year-old Somsack Khamvongsa.

Next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Ford, Cesar Gonzalez-Calderon, was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed well into the morning hours during the on-scene investigation.

The investigation is on-going at this time.

  1. To get that many dropped to a NVDL from a DWLSR charged he had too have had a good lawyer. Every 3rd dwlsr codes you as a HTO(habitual traffic offender) which is also a mandatory 5year suspension and up to a possibility of 3 years in prison… I was there and made those same mistakes(minus any accidents)I’m legal now, but what a shame still… I hope these families get closure…
