Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are currently investigating a crash involving the death of a pedestrian. The crash occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday October 11, 2020.
Investigators say that a 27 year-old male from Orlando, was walking southbound across the eastbound lanes of Hillsborough Avenue in an unlighted portion of the divided six lane highway. He entered that path of an SUV traveling eastbound on Hillsborough Avenue east of George Road. He was struck by the vehicle and was thrown into the center portion of the roadway.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Two deputies, one traveling in the center lane and the other in the inside lane, collided with the pedestrian down in the roadway from the original crash.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
The crash closed the eastbound lanes of Hillsborough Avenue for several hours during the investigation.
