At 1:14 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to a carjacking at the intersection of 4th Ave N and 35th St N.
Two victims, a man and a woman, were traveling southbound on 35th Street North, just passing 4th Avenue North, when a young woman flagged them down.
Once they came to a complete stop, a man with a gun approached the vehicle forcing them out.
A vehicle description, a PT cruiser, was shared with local agencies when a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle, and both agencies authorized a pursuit due to the violent nature of the crime.
The vehicle was involved in two separate crashes before it came to a complete stop at 17th Ave. NE and Bay St. NE., and both occupants ran from the scene.
St. Petersburg Police Officers were able to locate and arrest 23-year-old Anthony Stump and 17-year-old Kylie Nash.
Both have been charged with Carjacking with a Weapon or Firearm. In addition, Stump is also charged with Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer for driving the stolen vehicle into an officer’s cruiser during the pursuit.
The investigation is still ongoing.
