Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a double fatality crash that occurred on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at approximately 2:52 p.m.
Based on preliminary information from FHP, a 27-year-old male driver from Holiday was operating a Kia Sorento westbound on SR-54 at a high speed.
At the same time, a 66-year-old male from New Port Richey was traveling southbound on Virginia City Drive in a Lexus RX.
At the intersection, the driver of the Lexus turned left into the path of the Kia and was struck.
The driver of the Kia suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Both the driver of the Lexus and his 68-year-old male passenger suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
The investigation continues.
