A 30-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in St. Petersburg last month.
The St. Petersburg Police Department identified the driver as Ashleigh Zinn, 30, of Clearwater.
Police said investigators used Flock license plate recognition cameras to locate the sedan involved in the August 8 crash and identify Zinn as the driver.
Investigators later issued a warrant for her arrest. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Zinn, who was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail at 12:06 a.m. on Friday, September 4.
Zinn is awaiting transfer to the Pinellas County Jail, where she faces a charge of failure to stop or remain at a crash involving death.
The crash occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South and 15th Avenue South.
According to St. Petersburg police, a dark-colored sedan was traveling southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South as a 47-year-old woman was walking westbound in the marked crosswalk at 15th Avenue South.
The sedan struck the woman and fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
The victim was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police have not released the victim’s identity.
