US-19 Crash Leaves Two Injured After Mercedes Hits FHP Vehicle

A Mercedes sedan, driven by a 34-year-old man from St. Petersburg, was involved in a collision with a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) vehicle on US-19 north of Klosterman Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, 14, 2024 near Parkview Boulevard when the driver of the Mercedes, traveling northbound, lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle rotated into the median, striking a marked FHP Dodge Charger that was stationary and monitoring traffic. The impact caused the patrol car, driven by a 27-year-old state trooper, to rotate and come to rest in the southbound lanes of US-19. The Mercedes came to a stop in the northbound lanes.

Both the driver of the Mercedes and the trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The crash is under investigation.
