11-year-old shot dead while in St. Petersburg home with siblings

Investigators from the St. Petersburg Police Department are currently on-scene of the shooting death of an 11-year-child.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2924, police responded to a house at 1421 43rd St. S. for a gunshot wound to a boy. The boy was at the home with his siblings. 

The boy was identified as Amir Williams who died at the scene.

Amir was home with his 14-year-old brother and 13-year-old sister.  He brother admitted he was playing with the gun and accidentally shot his 11-year-old brother. 

His 14-year-old brother claimed to have found the gun in an alley and that family members did not know the gun was in the home.

The gun was reported stolen on April 24th in St. Petersburg. Detectives are still trying to determine how the 14-year-old had possession of it. 

This is an ongoing investigation and no one has been charged at this time.

According to the Pinellas County School calendar, there is no school for students today.
