Driver Seriously Injured in Alcohol Related Crash on Howard Frankland Bridge Overnight

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a crash that seriously injured a Holiday woman.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:17 a.m. on Saturday, February, 23, 2018 in the northbound lanes of I-275 near SR-60.

Kaeleigh Sterling, age 26 of Holiday, was traveling northbound on I-275 in a 2013 Toyota Camry in the outside center lane.

Jaclyn Catalfina, age 32 of Seminole, was traveling in front of Sterling in the same lane in a 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

Troopers say Sterling was traveling at a high rate of speed, overtook and collided with the rear of Catalfina’s Elantra. As a result of the collision, Sterling’s Camry overturned multiple times. Both vehicles came to final rest in the travel lanes of I-275.

Sterling was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries. Catalfina was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Troopers believe that Sterling was impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash. Charges are pending.

The roadway was closed until approximately 7:00 AM.
