Officers from Pinellas Park Police Department along with Pinellas Park Fire Rescue responded to reports of a hit and run crash that occurred in the 5800 block of 102nd Avenue North at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020.
Officers received reports that the driver of one of the vehicles fled south on foot from the crash scene. They were able to visualize a subject floating in the pond near the crash scene. Officers established a perimeter around the pond and called for air support from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and a boat to launch into the pond.
After about 45 minutes, the subject came to shore and was apprehended by awaiting officers and a K-9 unit.
He was transported to Northside Hospital for a medical evaluation. The extent of injuries to the victim of the hit and run crash are unknown at this time.
