Clearwater man killed in motorcycle crash on I-275 Sunday evening in Hillsborough County

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently investigating a crash on I-275 in Hillsborough County that killed a Clearwater man. The crash occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

According to Troopers, the 18 year-old helmeted motorcyclist was traveling southbound in the outside lane of I-275, within the I-4 interchange.

As he crested a rise in the roadway before Exit 45A, the rider applied brakes and began to skid. As the road curved to the left, he continued in a straight path and overturned. Both the rider and motorcycle departed the roadway and collided with metal guardrail support posts.

No other vehicles were involved.

The man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
