Tarpon Springs Police arrest Director of Operations of pain management clinic for extortion

Tarpon Springs Police arrested the Director of Operations for the Phoenix Medical Management clinic, located at 1779 S. Pinellas Avenue in Tarpon Springs.

On January 12, 2022, The Tarpon Springs Police Department received a complaint from an adult female, whom is a patient at the Phoenix Medical Pain Management clinic, located at 1779 S. Pinellas Ave. Tarpon Springs. The victim advised detectives that she was contacted by The Director of Operations, 52 year-old Christopher Ferguson of Pinellas Park, advising her she had a positive drug result, in regards to one of her routine submissions, while under care at this facility.

Ferguson directed the victim, over the course of approximately 9 days, to respond to the care center to repeat several samples to be tested, to remain a patient at the facility. Ferguson subsequently made follow up contacts with the victim, advising there were problems with her additional test results. During this time, Christopher Ferguson began contacting the victim, outside of normal operating business hours, from his personal communication devices in which he directed the victim to respond to the location of Phoenix Medical Pain Management, in the evening and night time hours after the close of the business, where he ultimately extorted her by directing her to perform sexual favors for him in exchange for keeping her from being discharged from the practice, as a patient.

Ferguson was arrested outside the facility while anticipating the victim’s arrival. According to the arrest documentation, Ferguson admitted his actions were “unethical” and he was aware the victim believed he wanted the sexual contact in exchange for “a clean slate” and that he “used the situation to develop things,” sexually with the victim.

Through this investigation, additional potential victims have been identified.
The Tarpon Springs Police Department is asking anyone with information about this investigation to contact detectives at 727-938-2849.
