Firefighters battle multiple alarm structure fire in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to a multi alarm structure fire on the 2800 block of Coffee Pot BL NE St. Petersburg at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022.

Units arrived to find a large two-story family residence completely involved with fire.

Authorities stated that the house is under renovations and vacant at the time of the fire. The house has a protective chain link fence surrounding the lot due to the construction, units did have to cut the chain to make access to the house. Fire units quickly ensured that the fire did not spread to the neighboring houses and extinguished the fire. As of now, the aerial units are placing water on the hotspots to ensure the fire does not reignite.

It is currently unknown if the house had work done or had workers in the building today. Investigators are interviewing the homeowner and witnesses while awaiting the area to be safe for a hands-on investigation.

The cause is currently under investigation.

No injuries were reported to any bystanders or responders.
