Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol continue to investigate a fatal crash in Palm Harbor. The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Investigators say that a 66 year-old woman from Palm Harbor was traveling northbound on East Lake Road in the left turn lane approaching Tarpon Lake Boulevard.
Another driver, a 21 year-old woman from Trinity, was traveling southbound on East Lake Road.
At the intersection, investigators say that the 66 year-old woman turned left into the path of the southbound vehicle. The southbound vehicle collided with the passenger side of the turning vehicle. The passenger in the turning vehicle, a 79 year-old Palm Harbor woman, was flown from the scene to a local trauma center. She later died from her injuries.
The 66 year-old driver was seriously injured and also transported to a local trauma center.
The 21 year-old driver was not reportedly injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
