A Palm Harbor man has been arrested after Clearwater Police say he fired a BB gun at a Church of Scientology building in downtown Clearwater, shattering a glass door and allegedly placing a nearby pedestrian in fear.
According to an arrest affidavit, 19-year-old Feliks M. Acar was taken into custody on April 20, 2026, at approximately 7:19 p.m. He faces multiple felony charges, including throwing a deadly missile into a building, aggravated assault, and criminal mischief.
The incident occurred on April 20, 2026, around 12:32 a.m., near 41 N. Fort Harrison Avenue. Investigators say Acar was driving a red 2019 Volkswagen Jetta northbound on Fort Harrison Avenue when he discharged several rounds from a CO2-powered BB gun from inside the moving vehicle. The rounds struck the front entrance of the Church of Scientology building, damaging a tempered glass door.
Authorities said the damage to the door exceeded $1,000.
During the incident, a woman was walking in front of the building when the shots were fired. Investigators say the suspect fired in her direction, creating a well-founded fear of imminent violence. Surveillance video from the building captured the incident.
Post-Miranda, Acar told officers he intentionally fired at the building because of his dislike for what he believes the organization represents, according to the affidavit. He also stated that he did not see the woman in front of the door when he fired.
Police said the BB gun, described as a Glock 19X-style CO2-powered weapon, was voluntarily turned over by the suspect.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
