St. Petersburg Crash Claims Life of 22-Year-Old Motorcyclist

A 22-year-old Pinellas Park man died Tuesday night following a motorcycle crash at the intersection of 21st Avenue North and Tyrone Boulevard North in St. Petersburg.

According to investigators, the crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. when a white Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling eastbound on 21st Avenue North attempted to make a left turn onto Tyrone Boulevard North.

At the same time, a black and gray Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle, operated by Xavier Joshua Strunk, 22, of Pinellas Park, was traveling southbound on Tyrone Boulevard North approaching the intersection.

Police say the driver of the Ford failed to yield the right of way and turned into the path of the motorcycle, causing a collision.

Strunk was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities said his next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The crash remains under investigation.
