We’re excited to announce the release of the new IONTB Public Safety Radio app, now approved and available on the App Store. The Android version is complete and currently awaiting final approval from Google Play.
We built the new scanner experience from the ground up with a customized design focused on reliability, simplicity, and easier access to the public-safety radio traffic that matters most to each listener.
A major focus during development was maintaining reliable audio as users move between Wi-Fi, cellular service, Bluetooth, and CarPlay. We put considerable effort into improving reconnections during these transitions and ensuring queued calls resume properly after interruptions.
The new app makes it easier to:
- Select favorite talkgroups for quick access
- Monitor one talkgroup, a related group, or multiple selected talkgroups
- Use Quick Sets to switch between preferred monitoring configurations
- Catch up on earlier radio traffic before returning live
- Review recent calls and replay individual transmissions
- Listen through Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay
- Keep preferences available across supported devices
Building and releasing IONTB Public Safety Radio is especially exciting because it is the first app we have built and released.

The Android app is available but is still awaiting final Google approval on the modified version. Click below to install the approved version.
IONTB Incident Alerts Has Also Been Approved
Our second app, IONTB Incident Alerts, has also been approved by Apple.
The app displays active Pinellas County calls. Subscribers can create customizable notifications based on call type, responding units, geographic grids, and other selected keywords. It can also provide weather alerts for locations throughout the United States. Users can customize the areas they monitor and the types of weather alerts they want to receive.

Transitioning to the New Scanner
The original IONTB scanner and its app will remain available for now. We will gradually transition users to the new app and web scanner at scanner2.iontb.com.
If you currently have an IONTB scanner account, your existing access will continue to work on both systems throughout the transition.
If you don’t currently have an account, we are temporarily opening limited access to the new scanner through Labor Day, Monday, September 7. **Only one the new IONTB Public Safety Radio app or at https://scanner2.iontb.com
Temporary access code: LD2026
We invite you to try the new experience and let us know what you think. Your feedback—especially reports on reliability, usability, and areas for improvement—will help guide future updates.
Apple users can now download both IONTB apps. The newest Android version of IONTB Public Safety Radio will become available after Google Play completes its review.
