Pinellas Park Man Stabs Cousin Then Himself in Pinellas Park

On June 29, 2014 at approximately 9:42pm, Pinellas Park Police responded to a call in the 6700 block of 77th Terrace N. from a citizen advising that her son had stabbed her nephew and then turned the knife on himself. The victim fled the scene in fear of the suspect. The suspect also fled the scene. A police K-9 unit responded to the scene and made contact with the caller. She informed arriving personnel that her son had fled on foot with a knife stuck in his chest.
Approximately 5 minutes later, the victim, 32 year-old Timothy Adams was located at a nearby residence. Rescue personnel from Pinellas Park Fire Department arrived on-scene and determined that due to a penetrating stab wound to the chest would need to be transported to a trauma center. He was immediately loaded into a Sunstar Ambulance and transported to Bayfront Heath in St. Petersburg.
Officer and a K-9 unit deployed and searched the area for the suspect. At 10:05pm, K-9 Officer Weaver and his dog “Tank” located the suspect in the 7800 block of 70th Street. The suspect failed to comply with orders to surrender and was subdued by “Tank”.
The suspect had life threatening injuries due to a self-inflicted penetrating stab wound to the chest. He also was transported to an area hospital as a “trauma alert”.
Pinellas Park Police have released this preliminary information on the details leading up to the stabbing. According to the complainant, she arrived home and had a brief conversation with her son, 37 year-old Olin Hess of Pinellas Park. Hess had been complaining most of the day, without a reason, about not wanting his cousin in the home.
When she refused to make him leave, he told her that he would stab him. Hess then went into his bedroom and exited with a knife. He then walked into the room where Adams was and stabbed him in the chest. After being stabbed, Adams fled from the home.
When the complainant went outside to call 911, Hess exited behind her with a knife sticking out of his own chest. The complainant said that he went back inside briefly and then fled the area on foot.
As of late last night, Adams was listed in stable condition while Hess has injuries that are more serious.
