Bicyclist Critically Injured in Largo Crash

At approximately 5:38 PM, emergency responders from Largo Fire Rescue and Sunstar Paramedics, were dispatched to reports of a vehicle that struck a bicyclist in Largo.  The crash occurred on East Bay Drive near Seacrest Drive in the middle of the roadway.  Due to the severity of the injuries to the bicyclist, Bayflite was requested to transport him to a local trauma center.

According to Largo Police, the 55 year-old male of a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling eastbound on East Bay Drive in the median lane.  The male bicyclist was attempting to cross the road without yielding to traffic.  The Hyundai collided with the bicyclist who suffered from a significant head injury and is listed in critical condition.

Bayflite landed on East Bay Drive closing all travel lanes surrounding the crash scene.

The driver of the Hyundai was not injured in the collision. The identity of the bicyclist has not been released at this time.
