Bicyclist killed crossing Ulmerton Road in Largo

Investigators are currently on-scene of a fatality crash involving a bicyclist in the westbound lanes of Ulmerton Road just east of Tall Pines Drive in Largo. The crash occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Crews from Largo Fire Rescue and officers from the Largo Police Department arrived on-scene after receiving reports of the crash between a vehicle and a bicycle. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics medically evaluated the driver the vehicle. The motorist did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the crash and remained at the scene.

The Largo Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit responded to conduct the investigation. 

Based on preliminary information from interviews, it appears the bicyclist darted out in front of the westbound traveling Nissan sedan. Alcohol was not a factor with the driver and the investigation is ongoing, police say.

All westbound lanes of Ulmerton Rd will be shut down until approximately 12:30 p.m.
