Boater Seriously Injured in Collision in Indian Rocks Beach
Units were dispatched for a person in distress in the intracoastal waterway in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida at approximately 5:50 p.m. behind a residence off 13th Avenue.
Multiple marine units were dispatched from Pinellas Suncoast Fire Rescue, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater Fire & Rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife and US Coast Guard.
The initial reports indicate that a small boat struck a channel marker in the waterway.
Tow Boat US and US Coast Guard were first to arrive and reported that one occupant had very serious injuries. The second occupant was reportedly not injured.
Bayflite was requested to respond once the injured boater was evaluated by fire medics.
As of 6:20 p.m., Bayflite is responding to the scene with approximately a 10 minute response time. A landing zone is being set up near City Hall.
