Boater Seriously Injured in Collision in Indian Rocks Beach
Units were dispatched for a person in distress in the intracoastal waterway in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida at approximately 5:50 p.m. behind a residence off 13th Avenue.
Multiple marine units were dispatched from Pinellas Suncoast Fire Rescue, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater Fire & Rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife and US Coast Guard.
The initial reports indicate that a small boat struck a channel marker in the waterway.
Tow Boat US and US Coast Guard were first to arrive and reported that one occupant had very serious injuries. Â The second occupant was reportedly not injured.
Bayflite was requested to respond once the injured boater was evaluated by fire medics.
As of 6:20 p.m., Bayflite is responding to the scene with approximately a 10 minute response time. Â A landing zone is being set up near City Hall.
