Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a fatal crash that occurred on Belleair Road in unincorporated Clearwater. The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2020 in the 1500 block of Belleair Road.
According to troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol, 24 year-old Shaquira Agosto of Temple Terrace was operating a 2003 Nissan Xterra westbound on Belleair Road from Lake Avenue
47 year-old, Salomon Hernandez was traveling eastbound in white Chevy S-10 pickup truck.
Agosto failed to maintain control of her vehicle, which entered the eastbound lane and collided nearly head-on with Hernandez’s pickup truck.

Hernandez died from injuries suffered during the crash. Agosto was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with what FHP called serious injuries.
On Friday, January 1, 2021, Agosto was arrested by troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol and facing charges of DUI manslaughter, Vehicular homicide and Driving with a suspended license.
Her blood alcohol concentration was documented to be .266, over three times the legal limit for operating a vehicle in Florida.
She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
The crash remains under investigation.
