CLEARWATER — After a lengthy investigation, Clearwater Police have obtained arrest warrants for six people accused of participating in the “Teen Takeover” riot on Clearwater Beach on May 31, 2026, including the teenager who was shot during the disturbance.
According to the Clearwater Police Department, detectives spent weeks reviewing digital evidence, following investigative leads, and coordinating with law enforcement agencies in multiple counties before securing arrest warrants for five juveniles and one adult.
Investigators said their review determined that the teen who was shot during the incident had also engaged in riotous behavior. As a result, detectives obtained one of the juvenile arrest warrants for him. Police said he has since been taken into custody, along with another juvenile.
The adult charged is 18-year-old Nigel Charleak Carleston of Valrico. Police identified him as the only adult among those charged in connection with the incident.
Authorities said they are continuing to work with law enforcement agencies in Pasco, Hillsborough, and Polk counties to locate and arrest the four remaining juvenile suspects.
“If you think you can come to our city and expect to get away with this, think again,” Clearwater Police Chief Eric Gandy said in a statement. “Our officers and detectives will relentlessly pursue the leads necessary to put you in jail and hold you accountable.”
Police have not released the identities of the juvenile suspects due to their ages. Additional charges or arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
