Two Arrested After Shooting Death of 22 Year-old Man in Clearwater

Clearwater Police has arrested two Largo residents, 16 year-old and 20 year-old, in the fatal shooting that killed 22 year-old Wayne M Hamm III.
At approximately 6:24 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, a resident near the 1100 block of Blanche B Littlejohn Trail heard what sounded like a gunshot and went outside to investigate.
According to the Clearwater Police, the resident discovered a man that was shot at least once. She called police and paramedics. Officers quickly arrived on scene and began CPR until Clearwater Fire Department arrived and took over. That man was transported to Morton Plant Hospital where he died. He has been identified as Wayne M Hamm III.
Two suspects have been arrested in the fatal shooting. 16 year-old Jamel James Hodges and 20 year-old Rafael Mercado Garcia were charged with murder in the
shooting death of the Hamm III.
A vehicle matching one at the scene was stopped by officers several blocks away shortly after the shooting occurred, and the suspects were taken into custody at that time.
