The Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatal crash that occurred in Dunedin. The crash that killed 30 year-old Ashley Mckiernan of Clearwater occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020.
According to investigators, Mckiernan was travelling southbound in the 1600 block of Achieva Way from Main Street. For an unknown reason, she left the roadway and struck a tree in the center median.
She was transported to the trauma center at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries where she underwent surgery. She was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Next of kin has been notified.
Investigators say that impairment appears to be a factor in the crash.
