Crash on I-275 in St. Petersburg sends vehicle into a home

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:21 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019.

The crash occurred as 60 year-old John Williams of Tampa was traveling southbound in a 2016 Toyota on I-275 near milemarker 24. Williams slowed due to traffic ahead and was struck from behind by a 2011 Nissan Armada. The Armada was operated by 32 year-old Robert Kuzdale of Lutz.

Following the initial collision, Kuzdale continued onto the west shoulder of the interstate, crashed through a FDOT fence, a private fence, and finally into a home located at 2219 34th Avenue North.

Troopers say the impact to the home caused non-structural damage and no injuries to the resident.

Kuzdale was transported to Bayfront St. Petersburg with minor injuries.

Williams was not injured in the crash.

Troopers say charges are pending and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash
