Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a critical injury crash that occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-275 in the area north of the 22nd Avenue N exit.

Firefighters arrived on-scene and located two vehicles with heavy damage with one vehicle still burning. Firefighters began to treat at least two patients with critical injuries. One of those victims experienced life threatening burn injuries. Both were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
As of 7 a.m., all southbound traffic is still being diverted off at the 38th Avenue N.
