Suspect arrested in connection with murder at Lealman Mobile Home Park

Sylvester Johnson charged with 1st degree Murder

Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have made an arrest in connection with the murder of 75 year William David Casey of 2500 54th Avenue N, #447 in Unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Deputies were dispatched to the Palace Mobile Home Park at 2500 54th Avenue North on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at approximately 11:00am. A neighbor discovered Mr. Casey deceased in his home with upper body trauma.

The suspect, Sylvester Johnson (9/13/1952) was arrested at this place of residence, 2500 54th Avenue North #352, St. Petersburg.  He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and is facing charges of 1st degree murder and multiple counts of violating his terms of parole..  Mr. Johnson was labeled as a Career Offender and  has  been arrested in Pinellas County multiple times in the past.

Mr. Johnson was linked to the crime  through fingerprints found at the scene.  This link was established through the diligent work of the Crime Scene Investigators.

Detectives say the victim and the suspect were known to each other as they both live at the Palace Mobile Home Park.  Mr. Casey’s wallet was also missing after the murder indicating a possible motive of robbery.
