Driver arrested for DUI Manslaughter after pedestrian killed walking on the sidewalk in Treasure Island

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Treasure Island

The crash occurred at approximately 10:29 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 near 10086 Gulf Boulevard in Treasure Island.

According to investigators, officers with the Treasure Island Police Department responded to the crash on Gulf Boulevard. Deputies say 46-year-old Andrea Hamilton was walking northbound on the west side of Gulf Boulevard using the sidewalk. 55-year-old Mark Walters was driving southbound, in a 2012 GMC Sierra, on Gulf Boulevard when he left the roadway and struck Hamilton on the sidewalk.

Hamilton was transported to a Palms of Pasadena Hospital with life-threatening injuries where she died from her injuries.

Walters showed indicators of impairment during the investigation and was arrested. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and is charged with one count of DUI Manslaughter.

The investigation continues.
