Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a crash that left a driver seriously injured.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 4, 2021 near the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Bay Vista Drive.
First responders arrived on scene shortly after the crash finding a heavily damaged Mercedes sedan. For an unknown reason, the Mercedes left the roadway and collided with a tree along the westbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard just east of Bay Vista Drive.
Firefighters worked to extricate the adult male driver from the vehicle and a medical helicopter was requested to respond to the scene due to the driver’s injuries. LifeLine arrived on scene and landed just east of the crash site on Roosevelt Boulevard.
The driver was flown to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries.
