Fatality crash investigation underway in Pinellas Park

Officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department are on-scene of a fatality crash at the intersection of 126th Avenue and 49th Street N. The crash occurred on Monday, May 2nd, 2022 at approximately 7:20 a.m.

Once on scene, officers and paramedics discovered the male motorcycle rider, 38 year-old Maxwell Jenkins, was deceased as a result of the collision. The driver and two passengers in the SUV sustained minor injuries.

Investigators determined Jenkins was traveling south on 49th Street approaching the intersection of 126th Avenue. At the same time, an SUV operated
by 44 year-old Maria Hernandez was making a westbound turn onto 126th Avenue from 49th Street.

The vehicles collided in the intersection and Jenkins was thrown from the motorcycle.

According to police, neither alcohol nor speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated.

All of the southbound lanes on 49th Street have been reopened.
