Detectives said their investigation determined that Parth Patel had been visiting the Largo area from Dublin, Ohio, and had been experiencing a noticeable decline in his mental health.

According to investigators, Hitesh Patel made a comment to his son that prompted Parth Patel to shoot his father before turning the gun on himself.

The Sheriff’s Office said next of kin has been notified.

The investigation remains ongoing.
