FHP Investing Fatality Crash on Ulmerton Road at 34th Street

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently investigating a fatality crash. The crash occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

The initial crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Ulmerton Road just prior to 34th Street N in unincorporated Clearwater.

According to the FHP, 60 year-old David Massaro of Carmel, Indiana was traveling westbound on Ulmerton Road in a 2019 Nissan Sentra approaching 34th Street.

Marvin Centena-Martinez, age 29 of Ocala, was traveling westbound on Ulmerton Road in a 2008 Honda Civic.

A third vehicle, a 2017 Honda Accord, was being operated by 24 year-old Jamie Guzman of Clearwater, eastbound on Ulmerton Road.

Guzman was traveling eastbound on Ulmerton Road and stopped in the left turn lane at 34th Street.

Troopers say that Massaro turned left into the path of Centena-Martinez’s Civic. The front of the Civic struck the left side of the Sentra.

The Sentra then rotated and collided with the front of the Accord.

Massaro died at the scene of the crash. His passenger, 56 year-old Teresa Hartman was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries.

Both Centeno-Martinez and his 19 year-old passenger were transported to Largo Medical Center with minor injuries.

Neither Guzman nor her 22 year-old passenger were injured in the crash.

Troopers say all the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
