Crews from Pinellas Park Fire Department were dispatched to reports of a vehicle crash this evening about 5:45pm.  The crash was located in the westbound lanes of Bryan Dairy Road just to the west of US Highway 19.

Units from Pinellas Park Fire Station 35 were first to arrive on-scene.  When they arrived they reported two vehicles with heavy damage.  One of the vehicles was also on fire and crews were quickly able to bring it under control.  Additional resources were dispatched from Pinellas Park Fire Department, Sunstar Paramedics, Largo Fire Rescue and St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.  Multiple units from Pinellas Park Police Department arrived on scene to help during this very difficult incident.

Many great citizens stopped to assist with this crash prior to the arrival our fire crews.  Ryan Smith was one of those citizens that was driving home from work next to the green Ford Ranger at the time of the crash.  He described a very dramatic scene as himself and many others removed the occupants from the vehicles, one of which was on fire.  Mr. Smith has provided IONTB access to a few very dramatic photos taken during the immediate aftermath of the crash.   He described the SUV has being airborne and landing on the hood of the Ford truck before coming to rest on its side.

Two patients were declared trauma alerts and multiple other individuals required medical attention.   Bayflite was initially placed on standby but was unable to fly due to weather conditions.

Up to eight patients were evaluated and it appears that possibly six were transported to local hospitals.  The exact number of transported patients is unknown at this time.

All traffic in both directions on Bryan Dairy Road were closed for a period of time due to the vast amount of resources that needed to arrive and depart the scene.  Pinellas Park Police Department will continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this crash.
