Impaired Man Arrested in Hillsborough After Driving the Wrong Way
On September 3, 2017, at approximately 6:45 am, a white 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck was observed by citizens driving the wrong way (eastbound) in the westbound lanes of Fletcher Ave from Nebraska Ave.
The driver continued for approximately one mile until he crossed over the concrete median near N. 22nd Street crossing back into the eastbound lanes.
Sgt Ryan Balseiro of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle eastbound on Fletcher Ave at the Hillsborough River and conducted a traffic stop.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Sgt Balseiro observed an open container of beer in the cup holder and several empty beer cans on the front passenger floorboard.
A roadside field sobriety examination was conducted and as result, Velasco-Arcos was arrested for DUI. Velasco-Arcos was transported to Central Breath Test where his blood alcohol content registered .198.
Velasco-Arcos was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail without further incident.
This was Velasco-Arco’s fourth DUI arrest since 10/2016.
