Man Shot After Threatening Resident and his Son at Bay Vista Park in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred at Bay Vista Park on Wednesday, 10/04/17 at approximately 10:35 pm.  

According to police, 59 year-old Barry Watkins and his adult son were involved in an altercation with 43 year-old Marc Branch, who is unknown to them.

After parking his vehicle at Bay Vista Park, Watkins left to use the restroom and was approached by Branch. Branch began aggressively approaching the passenger side door where Watkins’ son was standing and forcefully pushed the vehicle door – pinning the leg of Watkins’ son.

Watkins yelled out to Branch to get back. Branch then aggressively approached Watkins and Watkins shot him in the torso.

Branch’s injuries are not considered life threatening.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

Branch has multiple arrests in Pinellas County and an extensive record out of New Jersey.
