Motorcycle Passenger Dies After Being Ejected in Pinellas Park

Posted: August 20, 2015 – 9:30 PM

Crews from Pinellas Park Fire Department and Sunstar Paramedics responded to a motorcycle crash on Wednesday evening at about 5:37 PM.  Arriving units found the riders near a ditch at the intersection of 67th Way  and 71st Avenue N.

Fernando Jose Asencio, age 41 of Pinellas Park, was traveling eastbound on a 2013 Triumph motorcycle on 71st Avenue N. west of 67th Way North.

For unknown reasons, Asencio lost control of the motorcycle which overturned onto its right side.  Asencio and his 28 year-old passenger, Ercilia M. Figueroa-Lizardo were ejected onto the roadway according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP)

FHP reports that neither occupant was wearing a helmet. Both occupants were transported to Bayfront Medical Center where Figueroa-Lizardo of Pinellas Park expired from her injuries sustained in the traffic crash.  Asencio’s injuries were described as minor.  Charges are pending and alcohol did not appear to play a role in the crash according to FHP.
