Motorcyclist dead following crash on Gandy Boulevard

The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at approximately 9:25 a.m.

According to investigators, 27 year-old Brendon Courson was operating a blue Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle eastbound on Gandy Boulevard North in the median lane.

For unknown reasons, Courson drifted off the road and collided with the guide rail and continued eastbound on the shoulder for several hundred feet. Courson was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Courson was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he later died from his injuries on August 14th, 2022.

The investigation is still ongoing and officers say that speed appears to be a factor in this crash.
