Motorcyclist arrested after hit and run crash striking and killing a 7 year-old in Port Richey

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the identity of a motorcyclist or the motorcycle involved in a hit-and-run crash killing a 7 year-old child. The crash occurred at approximately 9:23 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Troopers say that the 7 year-old male child was walking westbound across Regency Park Boulevard when struck by a motorcyclist at King Arthur Drive in Port Richey.

Following the crash, the motorcyclist fled the scene still traveling northbound. 

The child later died due to injuries during the crash. 

On Sunday, December 6th, the motorcyclist arrived at the Port Richey Police Department and later surrendered to FHP Troopers after admitting to his involvement in the incident.

19 year-old Shaun Wyrich of Port Richey, was delivered to the Pasco County Jail and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving a Death and No Motorcycle Endorsement.

The motorcycle involved in the crash was recovered at a residence located on Fox Hollow Drive.

Evidence recovered at the crash scene indicated the suspect vehicle to be a 2018-2020 model Kawasaki Ninja 400.
