Two rescued from 45 foot boat taking on water off the coast of Dunedin

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, Dunedin Fire Rescue received a call for a vessel that ran a ground in Hurricane Pass, next to Honeymoon Island State Park.

Units responded from Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Sunstar and the USCG and found that a 45′ cruiser had run a ground and was taking on water.

Fire crews were able to make access to the boat in high wave conditions and rescue two adults, two dogs, and one cat.

Unfortunately one cat was deceased after attempts to revive it were unsuccessful.

All involved were safely returned to shore.
