Deputies assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) continue to investigate a fatality crash involving a motorcyclist. The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the intersection of County Road 1 and Michigan Boulevard.
According to investigators, 58 year-old Cynthia Janssen was traveling northbound on County Road 1 in a black 2013 Mercedes SUV. A 2019 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by 49 year-old Bryan Rogers, was traveling southbound in the curb lane of County Road 1. Investigators say the vehicles collided as Janssen made a left turn to head west bound on Michigan Boulevard.
Investigators say that at the time of the crash, the traffic signal on County Road 1 was green for northbound and southbound traffic.
Rogers was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Janssen sustained no injuries.
According to investigators, speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Next of kin has been notified.
The investigation continues.
