Motorcyclist killed in St. Petersburg crash

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a black Infiniti at the intersection of 5th Avenue North and 31st Street.

The crash occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021.

Investigators say that a black Infinity Q50 was traveling westbound on 5th Avenue North. A motorcycle driven by 65 year-old Patrick Cauley of St. Petersburg was
traveling eastbound on 5th Avenue North.  The driver of the black Infinity made a left/southbound turn onto 31st Street North and crashed into the motorcycle, that was also passing through the intersection.  Cauley was thrown from the motorcycle by the impact.

Cauley was wearing a helmet and padded jacket when the crash occurred.  Cauley
was transported from the scene to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was
pronounced deceased.

The intersection was closed during the investigation in all directions.
