Motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries following crash in Pinellas Park

On May 31, 2021, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department responded to a crash involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle in the 9300 block of northbound US Highway 19.

The male driver of the motorcycle, 67 year-old David Hollis of Pinellas Park, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

It was learned a 1998 green Ford F150, driven by 58 year-old Debra Felton of St. Petersburg, was making a left turn from southbound US Highway 19 into the parking lot of 9359 US Highway 19. At the time, traffic in the median and middle lane were stopped for other traffic ahead, allowing Felton to make her left turn. A 2008 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Hollis, was traveling north on US Highway 19 in the curb lane. The truck entered the curb lane causing the motorcycle to change lanes to avoid a collision. David Hollis laid down the bike upon changing lanes and struck the truck’s front while in the right turn lane.

The investigation is still ongoing but investigators say that neither speed nor impairment is a factor in the causation of the crash.
